When It Rains

Ugh. This weekend K. was sitting on my lap and turned around stuck her finger in my eye. I immediately thought I was going to die. As the hours passed and my vision got worse and not better, I headed over to the E.R. It turns out I have a severe co.rneal ab.rasion (in layman's terms, she scratched the h#ll out of my eyeball.) It is unbelievably painful*, and they usually give you some kind eye drops for pain but, as I am pregnant, I cannot have those. The eye doctor, looking at my medical history, said "I can tell you are a tough lady. You'll survive." I wanted to bite him.

Then, after I get home from the E.R., JD gets a call from his mother. His grandmother has had a massive stroke and is in a coma, on a respirator. There are a lot of issues within JD's family, but his grandmother has never been anything but kind to me and I am very sad for her, and for her husband. He is having to make some very hard decisions.

Add this to the fact that I am rapidly approaching my 26th week of this pregnancy. Owen died without warning during my 26th week. Needless to say my coping skills are currently stretched to their limits. I want to scream "Enough already!" to the universe. Will you join me?

* I am currently mostly blind in my right eye and will be for a few more days. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to get this typed up, so I will be reading but not commenting on your blogs for a few more days. Sorry, I am thinking of all of you though.

Hang in there Ashleigh, just hang in there. Sending some tough love your way as you get through that 26th week and on to the 27th, 28th , 29th and so on and so on...till you get that healthy baby in your arms.
So sorry about the grandma-in-law. I hope she is not in any pain and that all of your love surrounds her now and always.

OUCH! And oh no.

You're right - when it rains, it pours.

Sounds awful, Ashleigh. All of it. Thinking of you, and your eyeball, and your g-i-l, and, very definitely, your baby.

Ow, that sounds painful. I hope it gets better soon!

And thinking of you at this time. I can't imagine the anxiety you must feel. One minute at a time!

Oy vey. And, Ow! I'm sorry things are so hard right now.

Hoping things quiet down, everything except the baby, who (I hope) will kick up a storm to reassure you.

Crap, so sorry.

A week after Maddy died, Bella whirled around with a hard plastic toy that cut my cornea and made it look as though my whole eyeball was a bloody mess. Thankfully, Mr's cousin is an eye doc, so we were spared a trip to the ER. But Ugh. I can feel the pain. On top of the pain. So sorry for the downpour.

Oh, that sucks about your eye! I hope it gets better sooner rather than later.

Will, I join you in saying enough? Man, I will lead the rally!

I am so sorry that you are going through all this. I am also sorry about your grandma-in-law.

It does seem as though the universe has it's head up it's rear this week for you and I am hoping the universe will figure it all out soon enough for you.

Thinking of you for all of your weeks to come until your little one is safe in your arms!

Can't these things take a number and stand in line? Why do they always have to rush in all at one go? They need to learn some manners. Hugs to you. I am sorry about everything you are having to deal with. Sending good thoughts for healing and healthy baby.
